International Inuit Day – November 7th
On November 7th, we recognize International Inuit Day. This day was established in 2006 by the Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) to celebrate the contributions and cultural heritage of Inuit communities across the Arctic. The day honours the legacy of Eben Hopson Sr., a visionary Inuit leader and founder of the ICC. International Inuit Day provides an opportunity to center Inuit voices and raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by Inuit across the regions of Inuit Nunangat and beyond.
At wintranslation, we are dedicated to supporting Inuit language preservation and cultural continuity through our translation services. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn from clients such as the ICC, Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada, and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK). We believe that maintaining and honouring Inuktut is key to preserving cultural identity and empowering future generations.
On this webpage, you’ll find resources aimed at deepening your understanding of Inuit culture, history, and contributions. We invite you to explore these resources and engage in ongoing learning and reflection.
