Oneida is an aboriginal language spoken by the Oneida people, mainly in New York and Wisconsin in the US and Ontario in Canada. Today there are an estimated 250 native speakers remaining and a language revitalization efforts have been underway since the 1990’s.
The Oneida language does share similarities with the other Iroquois languages – Cayuga, Onondaga, Mohawk and Seneca, however there are differences which make each language distinct.
