I had a great experience working with wintranslation. I called first to get an idea of what specific Indigenous dialect I would need translation into based on my program’s region and they were very helpful. I received a quick response back on my request for a quote and prompt and polite service throughout the entire interaction. In addition, receipt of my e-mail was acknowledged in a timely manner even though my consultant was out of the office for the afternoon which helped to put my mind at ease.

I have done translations for wintranslation for about 2-3 years. I have been a translator and interpreter for most of my life. Now that I am retired wintranslation is there to keep me going. I like doing work for winstranslation because of the challenges. It keeps my mind alert and brings back some of the words I had forgotten. I also like the payment part. They usually pay when I request payment earlier than scheduled. I don’t have to wait 4-6 weeks for payment. Translation and interpretation is my way of giving voice to those who cannot speak a different language. To me that is an honor. I am very proud of the fact that I can do this. winstranslation gives that chance.

Working for wintranslation has been a very rewarding experience for me and helps me keep both Michif and Plains Cree languages alive. I valued the kindness and consideration given to us. While always being professional, we were treated like people, not clients. When we got a reply, wintranslation remembered that we had had a past contract with them. Working with Wintranslation has been very rewarding for me and our Anishinaabe people.  It has given me the opportunity to apply our language, which is not part of our everyday vocabulary, to the translations I have been doing.  It has also given me the opportunity to develop new translations for words that are new to our language. With respect to the payment method, it is on time, and if there is a need to receive payment before the scheduled date, they will usually accommodate the request.  The rapport with the employees was great and they were always supportive. We (The Indigenous Theatre at the National Arts Centre) required short translations in a variety of dialects: Algonquin, Michif, Plains Cree, Woods Cree and Halq’eméylem.
