Recruitment Coordinator: Indigenous Language Translations
Help connect Indigenous language keepers with meaningful translation opportunities
About the Role
Are you passionate about making connections between people, communities, and opportunities? We’re looking for a Recruitment Coordinator to help grow our network of Indigenous freelance translators. You’ll use social media, online platforms, and community networks to identify, engage, and welcome Indigenous language keepers into our supportive team.
This is a part-time role, with flexible scheduling. The position is hybrid and initially expected to run for three months, with the possibility of extension. Compensation will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
About Us
For nearly three decades, wintranslation has built long-standing relationships based on respect and trust. Our company translates into 135+ languages, including Indigenous languages in Canada, French, and newcomer languages.
We’re deeply honoured to collaborate with Indigenous translators and knowledge keepers from communities across the country. We work with a wide range of Indigenous languages, including Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, Plains Cree, Woods Cree, Swampy Cree, Oji-Cree, Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe), Mi’kmaw, Dene, Mohawk, and many more. Our team handles client coordination, formatting, and logistics—so translators can focus on sharing knowledge through language.
What You’ll Do
Develop and implement creative strategies to connect with Indigenous translators, especially through social media and outreach.
- Create and share engaging content that highlights translation opportunities, success stories, and the impact of this work.
- Actively engage with Indigenous communities and groups on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Share opportunities through job boards, community groups, and attend networking events when possible.
- Screen applicants and guide them through a supportive onboarding experience.
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure smooth communication and coordination.
- Report regularly on progress and the impact of recruitment efforts.
What We’re Looking For
- Passionate and highly knowledgeable about leveraging social media to engage, connect, and build meaningful relationships with diverse audiences.
- Excellent communication skills and a respectful, inclusive approach to interacting effectively with Indigenous language keepers.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous communities and languages in Canada—ideally, part of an Indigenous community.
- A deep interest in language preservation and cultural knowledge.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, stay organized, remain flexible and adaptable, and bring forward creative ideas.
- Lived experience or community connections that support relationship-building are considered strong assets.
